Smoothing Ragged Edges

About

Inner healing and a place of peace. ~Pat
Description
This page is a place to go to look for a sense of peace. Look into your inner self and heal those ragged edges. Also about growth while surviving. Mending the heart while becoming strong and finding that inner peace. It is the basic hope that those who need, receive, each at their own level. Sometimes we all need a little support and a little hope, and my wish is this page provides it.

How  true is this?
First, let me wish everyone a Happy Easter. This is my first post in a very long time. I obviously have gotten off track and need to get it back together. Mom ended up in a nursing home last week due to a fall here at home breaking her leg. After she is used to being there a bit more, I will miss a day or two a week in going and giving me more time to play catch up here at home and out in the yard. Time to find all those things under bushes, in corners and out of sight. That brings me to those hidden things within us.

We are always hiding things from ourselves. Our minds often don't let us see the things that are true about ourselves as others see us. It is hard to accept that we are not perfect and never will be. We have flaws, vulnerabilities, bad habits. I think the key is to always being trying to be better. Looking at the positive part of our lives. Thinking positive thoughts. As Lent is now ended, I hope you were able to take those 40 days and look more inside yourself to see what changes you needed to make. I know I have.  Again, Happy Easter and my you begin your positive journey today.

Happy Fathers Day!

I know I have been delinquent with this blog, as well as my other blogs... I am keeping up with new posts on facebook and my pages there. Just not enough hours in the day or energy to follow through if there were more hours. Summer is now upon us, garden is still not totally in but may just go with what is there. The grand daughter graduated, 3.76 GPA from a class of 378. We are all very proud of her. We are actually accomplishing things and you can see it happening. Off the top of my head that is all of the positives I can come up with spur of the moment.

What are you grateful for??

Being a parent is, in my opinion a very difficult thing to do, especially in this day and age. I personally would not like to be growing up right now. It was difficult enough when we were growing up and things were much safer, slower and straight-forward. It is hard enough to just keep up with the changes happening everyday around us, let alone around the world which we are now all privy to. All you can do is try and instill right from wrong, respect for others, a firm belief system and be there when the kids need you. Also, try and make sure the kids are self assured...and they like who they are. God didn't make junk or mistakes. They need to know they are accepted for who they are, and you are proud of them. That much goes a long way. We don't often get do-overs, so make the best of each day not only with your family but with yourself as well.
Peace be with you.

Who is the person you want to be?

We are not talking about that person when you used to think...what do I want to be when I grow up. We are NOT what we do... it is who we ARE that  counts. How you think, act, when no one is around. How you treat others. We are not the pain, anguish and scarred person we may think we are. Who do you want to be if not the person you know/think you are? Only you can change you. Focus on who you want to be and work toward that.

Good day to you!
This time of year is often very difficult for many. The days are short and dark, often with bad weather making it even worse to get through. Many are alone and feeling depressed. Those who are busy just want this time of year to be over with.

For myself I think they key is getting up in the morning and trying to find something to focus on that I am grateful for. Some mornings it is that there is not much pain, or the sun is shining, maybe I see a little bird outside the window looking in. I try and remember I have people around me who help support me emotionally and love me. What ever it is that you can find, find it. Hold on to it all day if necessary and try and smile. It does help!! May this holiday season be gentle on you and bring you happiness and peace.

Joy... often illusive or we don't even notice it. What makes you happy? What brings you even a small amount of joy? Take time during this busy season to look at what brings you joy and do more of it. Let other things wait, they will still be there and when you start them, you will be happier!  ~P

Survival for each of us means something different. Some of us try to just get through the next hour or one day. Some are trying to just survive what life is handing them, illness, accidents, being homeless, earth quakes and the list goes on.  What ever you are trying to survive, remember, just keep the faith that things will get better and try and move forward just one little step at a time. Do not give up!! ~P

Today is the last day of October... which means there will be little people celebrating Halloween tonight. The pumpkin awaits being carved and candy brought out that was hidden away (so we would not eat it before!!). I unfortunately have still not found most of my Halloween decorations that were packed away thus making it simple to decorate this year. My wish for all is a very SAFE and happy Halloween!!
